Most people arrive in Kashmir with a mental list, Dal Lake, Gulmarg, maybe Pahalgam if there is time. Then they actually get here and realize the list should have been twice as long, and half the best spots were the ones nobody mentioned beforehand.

Below is our guide to Kashmir's major tourist places, what each one is actually known for, and roughly how long you need there. Every place on this page is reachable with one of our taxis, starting from ₹999 per person, so you can build your own route rather than follow someone else's fixed itinerary.

The Core Circuit

These are the places most first time visitors see, and for good reason, they cover the range of what Kashmir is known for without requiring a long detour.

Srinagar

Dal Lake, the Mughal gardens and the old city. The natural base for most trips, and worth two full days on its own.

Gulmarg

Meadows, pine forests and the gondola ride up toward Apharwat Peak. A full day trip from Srinagar, or an overnight stay for a slower pace.

Pahalgam

River valleys and quieter mountain scenery, along with access to Aru and Betaab Valley nearby. Good for a relaxed one or two day visit.

Sonamarg

Higher altitude and dramatic glacier views, best visited between late spring and early autumn when the road is clear.

For travellers who have already seen the core circuit, or simply prefer fewer crowds, these places hold up just as well without the tour bus traffic.

Doodhpathri

A quiet meadow with none of Gulmarg's crowds, reachable as a half day trip from Srinagar.

Yusmarg

Pine forests and open grassland, popular for a peaceful picnic style day trip.

Gurez Valley

Genuinely remote, close to the Line of Control, and open only in warmer months. Worth it for travellers wanting something far off the usual route.

The best service ever received! They helped in planning the trip. Offered lots of good options for hotel and house boat at discounted rate. They were available every time for the queries. The driver was polite and helpful. The vehicle was in good condition. The driver was very knowledgeable about all good places — be it eating points, or important shops like places where original cricket bats are made, where we can get original dry fruits, pashmina shawl etc. Unlike other travel packages using this provided us the complete flexibility of doing changes and checking out new places. We could call them at night 9pm and they were responsive. They made this family trip with parents, a completely wonderful experience! Must recommend!
